Filter to generate QR codes

You can convert any string to a QR code image as easy as use a simple filter, thanks to google charts api. Common use: <img src="{{object.attribute_to_encode|qr:"120x130"}}" /> This will create a 120(width) x 130(heiht) image with the value of the attribute_to_encode encoded in a QR coded image.

plaintext filter

Inspired by this [terse blog post](http://www.ghastlyfop.com/blog/2008/12/strip-html-tags-from-string-python.html). This filter was designed to simplify the stripping out of all (x)html in a given template var, while preserving some meta information from anchor, and image tags. Why is this even useful? If you have pre-assembled portions of templates, or model fields containing html, that you want to use to populate a *search index* like [django-haystack](http://haystacksearch.org/) you can safely discard all the markup, while keeping the text that should be still searchable. Alt text, and title attributes are worth keeping!

admin filters as select boxes

This templatetag let's you output a form with select boxes instead of the ul's for filters. Uses some hacks to get the param names out of query strings. This would be a lot easier if filterspecs defined params instead of query strings (if filter tag would handle the encoding)

Word-boundary-aware string truncation template filter

This is a custom template filter that allows you to truncate a string to a maximum of num characters, but respecting word boundaries. So, for example, if `string = "This is a test string."`, then `{{ string|truncatechars:12 }}` would give you "This is a..." instead of "This is a te".

Quantize decimal template filter

Takes a float number (23.456) and uses the decimal.quantize to round it to a fixed exponent. This allows you to specify the exponent precision, along with the rounding method. And is perfect for monetary formatting taking into account precision.

HTML to text filter

This filter converts HTML to nicely-formatted text using the text-browser W3M. I use this for constructing e-mail bodies, since it means I don't have to have two templates, one HTML and one plain-text, for each detailed e-mail I want to send. Besides the obvious maintenance benefits, this is nice because Django's templating system isn't well-suited to plain-text where whitespace and line-breaks are significant. I chose W3M because it renders tables nicely and can take in HTML from STDIN (which Lynx can't do). An alternative is ELinks; to use it, change "cmd" to the following: `elinks -force-html -stdin -dump -no-home`

Inline truncate by character number

Sometimes I need to truncate a string after a number of characters, usually to avoid breaking the page layout. When the string we have to truncate is a filename I don't want to hide its extension so a user can easily recognize the file. My solution is add the ellipsis at the middle of the string converting `ALongLongLongTitleDocumentThatExemplifiesThisSnippet.txt` into `ALongLongLong...hisSnippet.txt`

Closure for FieldListFilter classes with custom sets of ranges

This closure lets you quickly produce date-style range filters in the Django Admin interface without having to create a new class for each one. It follows Python range semantics, with the lower value using a `_gte` test and the upper value using an `_lt` test. Here's an example of how I'm using it in one of my projects: list_filter = ('complete', ('chapters', makeRangeFieldListFilter([ (_('1'), 1, 2), (_('2 to 10'), 2, 10), (_('11 to 30'), 11, 30), (_('31 to 100'), 31, 100), (_('At least 100'), 100, None), ], nullable=True)), ('word_count', makeRangeFieldListFilter([ (_('Less than 1000'), None, 1000), (_('1K to 5K'), 1000, 5000), (_('5K to 10K'), 5000, 10000), (_('10K to 75K'), 10000, 75000), (_('75K to 150K'), 75000, 150000), (_('150K to 300K'), 150000, 300000), (_('At least 300K'), 300000, None), ], nullable=True)), ('derivatives_count', makeRangeFieldListFilter([ (_('None'), 0, 1), (_('1 to 5'), 1, 5), (_('5 to 50'), 5, 50), (_('50 to 1000'), 50, 1000), (_('At least 1000'), 1000, None), ])), 'pub_date', 'upd_date') It is based on code from `DateFieldListFilter` and `BooleanFieldListFilter` from `django.contrib.admin.filters`.
