Gravatar support in model save override
Overridden save() method that adds Gravatar support for a user with a profile photo field (and presumably an email field). Checks to see if user has provided a photo. If not, then query Gravatar for a possible photo. Finally, if Gravatar does not have an appropriate photo for this user, then use whatever default photo is available (in this case, 'users/photos/default_profile_photo.png'... change as necessary).

Update timestamp If any instance field has changed
Needed a function to check if any field in an instance has changed. If so update a datetime field to now to keep track of changes. This function is an override of the save function in the model.

FlatPageOverrideMiddleware
This snippet is a piece of middleware that can be used to allow an administrator to create a flatpage that will override an existing URL. Why would you want such a thing? Maybe an admin needs to be able to override individual detail pages of an item list at will and doesn't want to be bothered mucking around with urlconf and restarting apache2. Obviously, it's not the ideal situation for permanent overrides (in that case, you'd be better off writing an exception in the urlconf), but it's good for the temporary, one-off, situations that may arise for whatever reasons.

Overriding Third-party Admin
With the advent of newforms-admin it's now possible to override admin interfaces without having to change any code in third-party modules. This example shows how to enable a rich-text editor for `django.contrib.flatpages` without touching Django's code at all. (Actual embedding of the editor via Javascript left as an exercise for the reader – plenty of examples of that elsewhere.)
